Terms of use

These terms are between you and PDFGrid, operated in the United Kingdom.

By using PDFGrid you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use it.

PDFGrid is a browser-based tool for extracting structured data from PDF documents into spreadsheets. You define rules describing what to extract, and the tool applies those rules to the documents you open.

Processing happens entirely on your own device. Your documents are never uploaded. What is stored on my side is described in the privacy policy.

PDFGrid is currently free to use, with no payment required and no card details taken.

I may introduce paid plans in future. If I do, I will tell existing account holders before anything changes, and a free tier will remain. Nothing you have already done will suddenly stop working without notice.

You need an account to save templates. You can use PDFGrid without one, but your work will not be kept.

You are responsible for the account you create and for anything done through it. Use an email address you control. Do not share your account with someone else.

Your documents are yours. I never receive them, never store them, and cannot access them. This is a property of how the tool is built, not a policy I could quietly change.

Your templates are yours. The field names, rules and regions you create belong to you. I store them so you can use them again, and you can delete them at any time.

PDFGrid itself is mine. These terms give you permission to use the tool. They do not transfer any ownership of the software, its design or its name.

Because I never see your documents, I cannot review, moderate or remove anything you process. Responsibility for what you put through the tool, and for having the right to do so, is yours.

This is the most important clause here, so it is in plain words.

PDFGrid returns exactly what your rules tell it to return. If a rule is pointed at the wrong place, or a document is laid out differently from the one you built the rule on, the result will be wrong — and it will be wrong confidently, because the tool has no opinion about whether a value looks right.

Every extracted value is shown to you in a review grid before it goes anywhere. You are responsible for checking your results before relying on them, particularly for anything financial, regulatory or otherwise consequential.

Do not treat output from PDFGrid as verified data. Treat it as data you have not checked yet.

Please do not:

• use PDFGrid for anything unlawful, or on documents you have no right to use
• try to break, overload, reverse-engineer or circumvent the service or its access controls
• attempt to access anyone else's account or templates
• resell or redistribute PDFGrid as your own product

I may suspend or close an account that does any of these.

PDFGrid is provided on a best-efforts basis. I do not guarantee it will be available, uninterrupted or error-free.

I may change how it works, add or remove features, or withdraw it entirely. If I ever shut it down, I will give account holders reasonable notice.

PDFGrid is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, I make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy of results.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Subject to that:

If you use PDFGrid for business purposes, I am not liable for any loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of business, loss of data, or any indirect or consequential loss, however arising. My total liability to you for all claims is limited to £100.

If you use PDFGrid as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected. I am liable for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of my breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill, but not for anything unforeseeable.

PDFGrid is free. That is relevant to what is reasonable here, and these limits are set on that basis.

You can stop using PDFGrid at any time and delete your account from within the app. If you cannot sign in, email support@pdfgrid.app to request deletion.

I can suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if I withdraw the service. Where it is reasonable to do so, I will tell you first.

If I change these terms materially, I will update the date at the top and email account holders before the change takes effect. Continuing to use PDFGrid after that means you accept the new terms.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
